Fishing report for 10/31/24

This is the "spooky" fishing report for  10/31/24.

While most of the fishing in the past 2 weeks has kind of been status quo, there is a few exciting developments. Starting with the bluefin tuna bite! Bluefin tuna have made an incredible appearance, and nearby at that. Last week the bite blew up 2 miles outside of Great Egg Inlet. Every fish from what we heard was all on ballyhoo on the troll with fish over 150lbs. It started as a morning bite but due to boat traffic has pushed to late afternoon.

Surfside is pretty much still the same as it has been. Bluefish have seemingly pushed out. Kingfish and spot have slowed down dramatically but rough surf plays into that a lot.  Sandsharks have been running rampant on any bait thrown but still decent action. Some schoolie bass are hanging around the jetties on soft plastics and topwater plugs, some over 30 inchers have been reported as well.

Back bay is still on fire with tog. Tons of fish around the structure, pilings and bridges. Hitting hard on sandfleas and greencrabs with some triggerfish still mixed in. Bass action has really heated up during the day drifting eels and spot around 9th street and ships channel. River action is really getting going with the same baits but also throwing topwater and plastics around the outflow creeks. Nightime bass have been hot as well with the same ticket as day time. Plastics in the lightlines and shallows have been producing most.
