Fishing report for 10/14/24
This is the fishing report for 10/14/24. Not a whole lot of change this week in the report but wanted to post some updates.
Back bay is still loaded with tog, by far the best thing going. They have been heavy around the bridges and piers on greencrabs and sandfleas. Striper have been around the bridges at night on soft plastics but have also started showing a little more in the rivers in the shallows. Topwater lures, soft plastics and spot seem to be working best. The big story though seems to be our "2nd mullet run" not normal but we had a mass of mullet make another appearance Friday afternoon and through the weekend. Wih those mullet there has been a ton of little blues, hearing some bigger but mostly 1lb and under.
Surfside when fishable has been basically the same. Spot and kingfish are still holding strong due to the unseasonably warm water temps. Small striper have been around the jetties as usual on small poppers and soft plastics. When the mullet pushed out the blues went too, pushing into the wash and close to the beach.
Tog and seabass have been pretty good out on the wrecks and reefs. Deeper water the better is the trend we are hearing. 90-100 ft of water seems to be the ticket, with big seabass and keeper tog mixed in. Haven't heard much on the tuna front but hoping the end of the week for more reports.
The weather is going to change drastically in the next few days. This should drop the water temp a bit and really get stuff going. Rivers should get really turn on if the trend holds up and the water doesn't sky rocket again.
